Stittsville Artist Studio Tour

During 2010 Stittsville Artists Tour, I met 8 artists who will be participating this year. All are talented in their own right. I’m excited to get started but also a little nervous. I made the commitment to myself that I would get back into the art world after having spent years raising my kids and working as a professional graphic designer.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to have a job that allows me some creativity. People always tell me I’m so lucky to draw pictures all day. The fact is, that as a graphic designer, I am a gun for hire. The client is always in the foreground and I have a duty to their needs and a duty to provide a solution to their problem. Getting back to painting rejuvenates me.

A steady stream of traffic a few inquiries and a lot of talk about my technique. I had some of my students drop by as well as colleagues and family. Overall it was the general public that graced my threshold.

It was a good experience and had several commission inquiries. It was not my goal to sell necessarily just to gain the confidence to start showing again.
